Capella University - Terrible Experience
Do not attend Capella University! I enrolled in the FlexPath Accounting program where you work at your own pace, are assigned an inexperienced tutor for each course, and a non interactive instructor.
Majority of the courses provide little to no details on how to complete an assessment. Assessments lack pertinent information needed to complete an assessment thoroughly. If you have questions you are told to reach out to your tutor. The tutors are students of the university and will admit they donโt know how to help you.
They can only provide resources for you only to research and try to find an answer but not provide examples to help you solve a problem. As an example in accounting you must take a tax course. The course is based upon tax year 2014. You are instructed to use IRS.gov to obtain and complete different schedules.
You must read publications and instructions on how to complete the tax schedules and tax credits. Upon doing the work with the best efforts possible but may have questions students reach out to the tutor. This is where it gets frustrating. Tutors will review what youโve done so far and tell you what you got wrong but wonโt provide any assistance on figuring out what to do to get the correct answer except for go back and read.
Well what happens when youโve read it and still need clarity on what youโve read? You canโt reach out to the instructor as they offer no assistance and barely respond unless you file a complaint with a โcoachโ that is also unhelpful. I can reach out to the instructor if my assessment hasnโt been graded within 48 hours. An instructor only grades assessments and provide no guidance.
Bottom line is if you want an education where you feel like you have learned and acquired skills to become and have a successful career then do not attend the Flexpath program at Capella University. If you are interested in any specialization program and want to utilize the skills obtained from a university this is not for you.
